I'll admit, my first thought is that you are insane but, I do like the potential Chaos part. Giving a team who started cold an opportunity to get some lost points back is intriguing, however it's more likely to just push the worst teams further down in the standings and effectively end their seasons even sooner.

If there is one thing the NHL likes it is the appearance of parity. This will blow holes in that charade. Never going to happen.

I like the idea of a mid season tournament...I'd just do a single game elimination though. 1. vs. 8 and so on. Win a round get 2 bonus points. A team could earn an additional 6 pts, or get none if they lose in the 1st round. And no loser points.
